The Agriculture Working Group (AWG) Meeting under the 27th China-U.S. Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) was held in Washington D.C. of the United States on Nov. 22, 2016.
Vice Minister Qu Dongyu co-chaired the AWG meeting with Mr. Jonathan Cordone, Deputy Under Secretary of Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The two sides had frank discussions on US traceability provisions governing imported aquatic products from China, exports of poultry products to US, export of beef and poultry product to China and agricultural biotechnology, among others.
At the opening plenary session of the 27th JCCT meeting on Nov. 23, Vice Minister Qu elaborated China's stances and requirements on US traceability provisions governing the import of aquatic products from China, and agricultural biotechnology, an issue of US concern. At the press briefing by the Chinese side on the same day, Vice Minister Qu briefed about the latest progress on China-US agricultural cooperation and outlined the bilateral agricultural cooperation in the future.
